You could say Jannette Manning Sisco has a familial connection to passenger train travel.
The 69-year-old Tallahassee native used to ride Amtrak’s passenger trains more than 50 years ago. Men on her father’s side of the family worked as chefs and porters on the Boston to New Haven route.
On Friday, as a buzzing Amtrak train pulled into Tallahassee, Sisco was one of more than a thousand people who gathered at the Railroad Avenue station to greet it.
For the past two days, an Amtrak passenger train roared from New Orleans through to Florida’s East Coast making 14-stops in an effort to examine existing tracks and address areas that may need improvement.
