Every year, the first weekend of December, Live Oak hosts Christmas on the Square. This year we will celebrate our 30th year with “A Down Home Christmas.” The festivities begin on Friday night with The Jingle Bell Fun Run/Walk through downtown Live Oak ending at the historic Train Depot which hosts an evening filled with great food, live music, dancing and fireworks. Early Saturday morning downtown Live Oak is filled with arts and crafts vendors, dozens of different food vendors, a car show, an agriculture exhibit and live entertainment at Millennium Park. As you enter Christmas on the Square you will be able to enjoy many classic muscle car and custom antique cars. We also have an agriculture exhibition with the newest equipment available and also antique equipment that was used long ago.
We host over 250 vendors offering arts and crafts, hand-crafted wood works, quilts, furniture and much more. As visitors progress through the arts and crafts booths, they can’t resist the smell of the delicious and diverse foods in the food court. You can enjoy many different types of meals and tasty snacks.
In Millennium Park you will find entertainment from the best of Live Oak’s very own local talent. Singing and dancing are a major part of the show. You will enjoy your local favorites singing Christmas songs and presenting dance recitals. After enjoying the entertainment, be sure to visit Santa in the Gazebo in Santa Land to share your Christmas wish list.
Once the sun goes down and the vendors pack up their booths, the day isn’t over yet. The stars of this show are just making their way down Ohio Avenue to shine in the Annual Christmas Parade of lights. Numerous floats are entered every year to compete for numerous titles in the parade competition. Young and old alike delight in the spectacular and dazzling displays of lighted mobile creativity.
This entire event is a public-benefited fund raising operation under the direction of the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce. Those who would like to enter their talent, arts and crafts, concession booth, automobile or float decorating skills should contact the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is delighted to have everyone in the community take part in such a spectacular event.
