Falmouth Spring is located within a 276-acre recreation area. The majority of the area is sandhill and upland mixed forest, with some slash pine. This well-shaded spring run is popular for swimming and wading in the hot summertime. When the Suwannee River is at flood stage, the dark river water travels through the ground water and can cause Falmouth Spring to flow backwards.
